ESMERALDA: WORKERS AGAINST VISIT OF TORTURE SHIP

TO THE HALIFAX PORT AUTHORITY, THE HALIFAX

CIVIC AUTHORITIES AND THE INTERNATIONAL COMMUNITY

Almost 20 years have passed since the return of democracy to our country: Chile.

However, we regretfully realize that justice is a meaningless word in our land.

As one of the children of the 11 railway workers extrajudicial executed by the Chilean Army in 1973, I'm saddened and shamed that the floating torture vessels Esmeralda is being welcomed in your shores as a "goodwill Ambassadress". Truth cannot be denied or hidden: the Esmeralda was used for raping women and torturing people.

We beg you, as Municipal and Port authorities to respect the memory of our loved ones and ban the torture ship from your shores.

Hoping to hear from you soon and to attend our call

Respectfully
Claudio Quintanilla, Santiago, Chile
